Parish Council Meetings

There are ten “normal” meetings of the Parish Council every year, one of which is designated the Annual Parish Council Meeting, plus one Annual Parish Meeting, at which the chairman reports on the past financial year to the public at large, and at which key village organisations are each invited to present a review of their activities over the year.

The list of meeting dates for 2024 is here.

All normal meetings can be attended by parishioners, and public participation takes place following a request to the clerk and motion passed to open the meeting to public participation.

The outside organisation whose activities and decisions have the most bearing on the parish is North Somerset Council . It provides us with the Parish Precept, which is the basis of our annual budget expenditure, and which forms a small part of the Council Tax paid by parishioners.

As the body which administers planning law, it submits to us each planning application for development in the parish, and considers our response prior to making its decision. See North Somerset Planning Portal to search for applications in Hutton.

North Somerset’s Parking, Travel & Roads department controls the condition of the roads in the parish. Here again, the Parish Council can make representations on the matter, but has to accept the decisions of the local authority.
