Welcome to Hutton Parish Council new site
This site is designed primarily for the use of residents of the parish, but also to provide information to a wider audience of those who wish to know about the parish and what it has to offer.
Where is Hutton? The parish is centred on the village of Hutton itself, situated in the South West of England in the ancient county of Somerset. It is four miles inland from the town of Weston-super-Mare on the Bristol Channel coast. It lies beneath the north slope of the Mendip Hills, on the border of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which bears their name.
Bristol, Bath, Bridgwater, Taunton and Wells are all within a 30 mile radius, and the nearby M5 provides access to the South West peninsula.
The parish of Hutton now (June 2009) consists of some 1,194 households, with 2,207 electors and a total population (at the 2001 census) of 2,627. Its known history goes back to the time of the Saxon king Edward the Confessor (1042-1066) and when surveyed in 1086 for William the Conqueror’s Domesday Book there would have been about 100 inhabitants, 60 in Hutton itself and 40 in Elborough.
