Banwell to Hutton Water Main Scheme

Submitted on Tuesday 6 March 2012

Preparatory groundwork on a major new water main between Banwell and Hutton will begin early in the New Year.

In order to meet future supply demands in the area, Bristol Water needs to lay a seven kilometre long trunk main between existing water mains in Banwell (supplied via the treatment works) and a reservoir in Hutton. Meanwhile, a spur pipe will be laid to a proposed development site at the former RAF Locking site.

Documents relating to the council's consent for removal of hedgerows for the installation of the Banwell to Hutton Trunk Main by Bristol Water are here and here.

A letter to residents includes the following:

There are no planned interruptions to your water supply throughout the scheme.

Please be on guard for ‘bogus callers’ pretending to represent firms like us. They are known as ‘distraction burglars’ and their aim is to get into people’s homes, distract them and steal their money or valuables.

Whilst carrying out this scheme, our staff will not need to enter your homes or businesses. Even so, all our staff carry an identification card. These are picture IDs and come with a verification free phone number: 0800 373 501. Remember, if in doubt never let an unexpected caller in. Close the door and call the police.
